If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

Ar-15's, 6.5 Grendel,uppers,and others.

Anyone who knows me knows I'v never been a huge fan of Ar-15's there ok but not my favorite rifle until maybe now.

Those who have been following along have seen R3VOLUTION touting the merits of the 6.5 Grendel as possible soultion as(reasonably) affordable long range round.I was checking an Alexander arms does offer 6.5 uppers for those who own mil spec lowers.
That just bumped AR's way up in my book.If you haven't checked out 6.5 grendel we both have links up in comments below. This sounds like a very flat shooting, hard hitting round with mild recoil. So at this point one or two Ar's with several diff uppers sounds like a winner in my book.

  1. Guess I need to do some catching up here lol. Hello guys, I am still out of country for about another 7-10 days but, I wanted to stop by and give a shout out to say hello.

Now, this thread is my kind of thread. In my line of work, we have the opportunity to use many different weapons. Unlike in the military, I can purchase and use whatever weapon I deem necessary for the job at hand. One of those chosen weapons is the 6.5mm GRENDEL.

The GRENDEL has the same weight and feel as the M-4 carbine but, has the range and striking power of the .308. It's recoil is a slight bit harder then the M-4 carbine but, the impact down range is worth every second of it . I have mine scoped with a 4x18 power leupold tactical scope and it is my favorite weapon to date.

They run around $1,000.00 without optics or bipod but, it's well worth the expenditure if you can make it . As for R3volution and his new.338 lapua.......... GOD BLESS YOU R3V !!! I will prefer to stay on your side of the scope as that round is a m***er fu**er ! Not unlike the .50bmg, if a human is hit with the .338, anywhere on the body, he is effectively out of the fight , most likely permanently.

.338 lapua will rip an arm off or blow a leg off and if hit center mass, he will have a vacuum exit wound that will suck all organs near the wound from his body through that exit wound . This round moves very fast , it's trajectory is flat and it will really reach out and touch someone .

Sounds like you guys are keeping up pace here. I look forward to getting back home and joining in the conversation more often .

  2. Ha Ha, Hey Dude I was wondering how it was going.Oh yeah R3VO keepin us current,no doubt.Bring your ass back in one piece, get caught up,catch us up.

  3. Well, I just got a package from UPS . It contained some CORBON ammo for the .338 Lapua Magnum . I also picked up a case of ammo from the dealer today . It is called SWISS P AP and it is apparently the snipers choice .

My back hurts from carrying this shit as does my fuckin bank account . Yes, there is cheap ammo available for this weapon, well cheaper at least. I wanted and demanded the good stuff and MAN did I pay for it . HOLY SHIT !

I spent as much for the ammo as I did for the rifle :/ So, now I have $4,600.00 into this beast and am afraid to shoot the ammo for practice HAHAHA ....... I hate being me sometimes..........

Well, I wanted it , I got it and how ..... The GRENDEL is going to have to wait, needless to say . The AP ammo I am going to laser etch an EG&A and 3%4FREEDOM on the brass so every hit will be for my friend.

3%, I got this in your memory, I hope you will be proud brother . I miss ya man .....

I am headed up to the retreat for a couple days, I need some time alone so I can reflect. Off to the travel trailer I go, talk to you when I get back.

  4. R3V O.Bro if he can see ya,he's proud.I hope you get to enjoy your me time Bro,you have earned it.Peace an happiness.

Referring to the obamanation healthcare bill.

Read this man, this bitch is far beyond fucked up .........

I am going to have a drink now, talk to you guys later .......

  6. A bit off topic, but...

My brothers and I are looking to buy the same rifle so we'll have common mag, parts, and be familiar with the riles use. We already have Mosin Nagants, plus one for Dad.

So we were thinking we'd get the yet to arrive SIG 516 (not 556) that was highlighted in the American Rifleman magazine a few months ago. But MSRP is $1,300 (not bad for that weapon), a little on the high side for all of us.

So we have been looking at the Mini-14. Not the older inaccurate ones, but the newer production that took care of those accuracy problems. This would be the rifle to carry around, out to ~200 meters - anything past that would be for the Mosin Nagant w/scope.

Right now CDNN has the Mini-14 Rancher for under $600.

Is that crazy? Should we spend the ~$700 more per copy of an AR type rifle?

  7. My self I own newer Mini-14 Ranch and I love it.Its accurate,no recoil, ammo is reasonable, prices on gun are normal now.

Something else worth checking out is the American made I.O inc Ak47 same price range as Mini it feels a little lighter haven't got out to test it yet so cant say on accuracy. But it scores higher than most ak's in reviews I've seen. But yes in my opinion new minis are great.Btw if you are stuck on AR's check out olympic arms my local dealer has em in stock on special for $599.

  8. I have both the older model mini 14 and the ranch rifle mini 14 and I love both of them . Whoever said the older model has accuracy issues must have meant the rear sights were horrible. I replaced the rear sights with WILLIAMS peep sights and no more problems .

Any AK47 is going to be pretty accurate but, not as accurate as the mini 14(just my opinion). The big deal with the AK-47 in all models and brands is , the ammo and mags are plentiful, the weapon system is flawless and they will function no matter what you do to them.

Muddy, sandy , wet, dry , it fell off of a cliff and recovered, it will ALWAYS function unless the receiver is damaged severely. This is why the AK 47 weapon system has been adopted and used by 7/8 of the worlds forces today .

The RUGER MINI 14 is a fine weapon. Ruger is so afraid of lawsuits that they over engineer all of their weapons, making them tough and reliable. A vast majority of my weapons are by RUGER . Not all of them but, most .

I think you will do very well to get some mini 14's and learn the rifle. You will not be unhappy (just watch the rear sight, they tend to fall off with heavy use especially on the newer ranch rifles) A replacement will be sent to you free from RUGER should this happen. I just got peep sights for both of my rifles and I love em. They can be found at

  9. Right on REG, I know for sure my mini can be counted on.The newest stuff not sure till I hit the range.

  10. Thanks gents - exactly what I was looking for, advice from those who actually have the weapon! Much appreciated. No timeline on buying one, but when we do I'll let you know.

I like ARs fine and know they're a bit more accurate, but think a Mini should be fine at 100-200 yards. And the Mini just seems more rugged and durable.

    Again, thanks for the info.

  11. Actually, I know that you will be surprised at how accurate the RUGER MINI-14 really is man. It is the exact same cartridge as the AR-15 only without the bells and whistles and price tag . Whoever reviews these things and says that the MINI-14's are less than as accurate or reliable then the AR-15, are in my opinion biased.

Anyone who has served in the military is partial to the AR-15 as we used the M-16/M-4 on a daily basis. From a guy who has used BOTH the AR-15/M-16/M-4 and the MINI-14, I can tell you that the only difference in performance I have seen is that if the MINI-14 gets extremely dirty, it may "MAY" malfunction where the AR-15 is made to a more tolerant military spec.

Aside from that , you cannot go wrong in buying a RUGER anything. The MINI-14 is tried and true and has never failed me, not ever. It eats any kind of ammo and if you keep it clean , it will last forever. I have over 10,000 rounds through my original MINI-14 and it is accurate out to 400 meters for certain .I have had success at 500 meters as well but have only really run it through the rigors at 400 as I use a .30 cal past 400 meters.

You have made a wise choice my friend, one you will never regret. I am telling you , you will be impressed with the mini-14's performance and reliability as well as it's durability. I will have mine by my side during any and all combat situations in the future as I know it will do what I need it to do .
