I and many others see bad days coming, probably sooner than later. Most of feel guns to defend ourselves are necessary. Most of us would like some really badass top end stuff.Unfortunately most of us have very limited funds to finance our arsenals.
I for one like James Dakin's (Bison survival blog)Theory of something is better than nothing. So going with this formula, say you want most badass Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 or 590 but with your normals you just can't swing it well a decent single shot can often be had for between $50-$100,now I know its not cool nor does it have multiple shots but if someone comes through your bedroom door at 2:00 in the morning said single shot with #4-00 will be mighty comforting.
Comes an actual collapse that same single shot will kill rabbits, squirrels, deer, wild dogs which will be plentiful as there broke owners turn em loose.
Same theory applies to rifles, you want that hammer forged stainless steel bull barreled 10-22 the $500-$750 a little to salty, however the pawnshop you check out every now and again has a Marlin .22 auto for $125.Now you have a rifle and a shotgun.
Now say the planets line up all your bills come in cheaper than normal and you got 10 hours of overtime on this check.Well it just so happens your buddy is looking for a cheap single shot 12 ga,looks like you can get that badass tactical pump now.
Point being get something.
Mosin Nagants at my local gun shop run from $120-$160 is it old yep not as cool as custom shop tactical 300 win mag but its reasonable priced shoots a powerful round some are very accurate.
Same tactic can apply to any aspect of prepping. You want a $300 Berkfield water filter but you Can afford $30 kit from cheaper than dirt.
Hope it gets you thinking.
What do you think? Right on or not?
