If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

Geezus , I like this guy HAHAHA !!! This guy is one dangerous individual , he knows his rifle and can hit his target @ 1,000 yards . How many of us can say that ? Look at that distance !!!!
ReplyDeleteIn this video you can see THE CORIOLIS EFFECT in action . You can view the round seemingly curving to the left of the TARGET . This is due to the earths rotation which only REALLY comes into play at very long range when the round is out there for extended times.
Remember what I said in the LONG RANGE SHOOTING post ? Your will be aiming anywhere between 18 and 35 feet above your target @ 1,000 yards . If you are shooting a 300 win. mag , you will most likely see a 12 to 18 foot drop as that round shoots amazingly flat.
A .308 or 30.06 will drop between 18 and 34 feet by the time it arrives at the target. This depends on bullet weight , powder charge etc etc etc .
Another good lesson in long range shooting . If you go to the range and attempt this kind of distance shooting , don't get discouraged , this is a VERY difficult shot to make and requires many, many hours of training to make this shot on cue with a cold bore.
Practice, practice, practice ! KNOW YOUR RIFLE!! Take it out in different temperatures and with/without wind. Try it out on a humid day and a cold day and a hot day . Keep logs of where your rifle hits in different weather conditions and under different circumstances.
Hey, shooting is fun anyways so, this will be pleasant research . I'll be doing this very thing with my new .50 bmg as I have very little experience with this caliber . I feel like a rifle virgin again haha . The only problem with this one is , it costs $2.50 per round to fire it so , I need to learn it quickly or go broke trying .
Another great wake up video ! Thanks again China !

Right on yes that is a long shot. But it proves a regular guy with regular guns can do it.It's like you say tons of practice, and hell who minds that?Knowing your gun and your range.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, ANY NORMAL GUY CAN MAKE A SHOT AT 1,000 YARDS . No question there . The question lies in whether a normal guy can make that kind of shot EVERYTIME and with a cold bore.
ReplyDeletePlenty of practice with your preferred rifle is the best and only feasible way for an untrained civilian to make that kind of shot, and ANYONE CAN DO IT !
The problem is that there are many aspects to long distance shooting. I am not knocking anyone here , merely I am stating that in different circumstances , it is a tremendous asset to have military sniper training to allow a shooter to KNOW , with no uncertainty that he/she can make that shot EVERYTIME , with or without a cold bore and in any environment and under any circumstances.
After decades of being a civilian shooter , I have lost a bit of my touch and miss shots too . Even with all of my extensive training in the past , I find the need to practice A LOT is a necessity if I want to be certain about that 1 critical 1,000 yard shot .
You have to realize that we are discussing this as if there were a war on and that 1 shot at that range will either save your life or take it . Food for thought .
I still want to recommend U.S.M.C. Scout/Sniper training manual for a mother load of information on this very subject .

Excellent points.By regular guy. I meant anyone willing to put in the work, this fella handloads,an from all of his vids shoots a LOT.I've seen him shoot probally seven diff rifles. And he doesn't allways hit. Thanks 3% one more manual I must get Ha Ha. I blew off medic manual for now to pick up ak.I do have ditch medicine and 2 others on way.And big score I've couple more of my kids on board. You know I dont know anyplace to even train at 1000 yds.can I shoot 500 yds twice? Kiddin.Gotta figure that one out.Soon.
ReplyDeleteTHANKS cuz.
PS . Yeah firing under stress of missing and possibly dying,is something I have never experianced.I do know from paintball and hunting, you can be pretty nervous and jittery.I can't even imagine stress you are describing.
ReplyDeleteThe day is coming and I think soon, where all of our skills or the lack thereof will show themselves. R3volution won't blog anymore, he is appalled by the current internet intrusion we have found lately . He did, however, ask me to put out one critical point .
ReplyDeleteWORK ON THE THINGS YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT !!
I think it is great if you can hit a target at 500 meters or approx. 540 yards. It is also great if you can reload your magazine in under 1 second per round. Super deal if you can make a fire from 2 sticks and a shoestring !
What about those things we all have that we suck at ? I have so many things that I need work on, one of which is getting my old ass back in shape and I am terrible at shooting while moving anymore.
I am going to focus on the things that I am NOT good at rather then the stuff I already can do well. It's a lot more fun to practice what we are good at then to practice all the rest of it that we are awful at .
We all have those areas that need work so, Let's make MARCH the month to work on our shitty points and make them our good points as well .
THANKS R3V for bringing this up to me ! I am going to begin making a list of items I need to work on . GOOD LUCK FOLKS !!

ReplyDeleteI have been dabbling with a garden the last 3 years and have found out how difficult it can be . You are at the mercy of Mother Nature, who is a woman and lord knows, I cannot figure out women.
I am in hopes of more lessons here soon , I am taking notes and 3%4FREEDOM , if you can hear me , I appreciate everything you have done . I have learned from you and Chinasyndrome and got those PDF files that R3volution put links here for.
It's places like this that allow guys like me to gain knowledge about things that we otherwise would never know anything about . I will continue to come and read and learn as long as you all allow me to by keeping this blog going .
THANK YOU all for what you do here .
