For those who are debating which .223 type auto rifle to chose I would like to tell ya from personal experience my mini will shoot any ammo you run through it.And functions with any mags you put in it.
I was on another site where they were debating on Ar's. One guy was ripping on Ar's they jam etc.Another dude sez well if you use good ammo etc they are fine. And please don't jump on me I am not criticizing Ar's hell I think I may be picking one up soon.
But if the one dude is right I don't know?
My Dad and I both heard all the crap about Mini's they only work with factory mags! They only shoot with good ammo etc.
So me being me I tested all the bullshit! Mine and the one the old man had shot flawlessly with all the ammo we took down with us. Including bear, wolf, etc steel case was not a problem.Same with magazines Ruger 5, 20,30 round mags perfect. Cheaper mags perfect. Then I pulled out the so cheap they didn't even stamp a name on em mags I knew these would jam, surprise, flawless.
So rather than being a slam on any weapon my is try out your weapon with what you will be shooting in it!
If there is some kind of collapse coming you may well find ammo but a lot of it stored away will be steel cased Russian ammo.
If your favorite tack driver won't shoot steel cased ammo still ain't a reason to get rid of it.But have something that likes anything!
Test your equipment often Know your equipment. As I say on the other blog A crisis is not the time to figure something out!

...the only thing negative i'll say,of the AR platform,is they suck when they're "new"...typically,most folks mistake the problems of the break-in period,as a fault of the design, and as i've witnessed first hand, their weapons were still basically "new/low round counts" when they discount them as being junk...on the other hand some will say they're "sloppy"(they want that "tight feel",which is rarely the case with a good shootin'AR...hint:stay away from the buffers and 'O'ring tricks-really of no use- and may actually cause failures)...my oldest carbine has a round count of(guessin')about 9,maybe 10 thousand, only problems/failures to date(after break-in) were the extractor, and charging handle(springs are no longer factory, all have been replaced-some a couple times)...anyway,sorry to ramble, but dependability is the responsibility of the beholder...
ReplyDeleteThanks Ken! I I'll take the word of a man who shoots and knows em any day!So many gun shop and arm chair experts out that newbies probably don't know what to believe!

This is off topic but, I felt it was worth putting out there.
ReplyDeleteNovember 12, Update:
The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a markup Nov. 18 on S. 3804, Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act.
Remember to contact your representatives to let them know your opinion on the proposed bill.
Now, with this "lame duck" status in session , they are very likely to pass whatever the phuk they feel like and we'll be stuck with it , or half of it at very least .
Do what you want or do nothing at all but, I wanted to make certain that folks were aware of this update .

China I have a Mini-14 and love it. I can run any ammo in it and never have a jam. I plan on getting a 2nd one for the wife.
ReplyDeleteHey Pete, yes this is one I can recommend with no reservations! I am debating on a Mini-30 or an AR in 7.62x39 or .223 version with a second upper in 7.62x39 as my next purchase.Decisions Decisions! So many guns so little time or money!
