If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”
- Winston Churchill

Can you survive out of your pack.

If the worst was to happen could survive indefinitely?Say Obama calls Martial law and you have a couple of minutes to get out of the house.Ok your Bob is packed and ready to go.But is whats in there really what you need for long term survival? I personally have several ways of getting food in mine, shelter, water. But ammo for long term, theres no way I can pack enough and still be mobile.A lot of folks are caching ammo and supplies.I think its a good idea, one I haven't started on yet.Have you?Depending on why you are bugging out it may be critical.

Kind of slow vid but if you don't know how it gives you the idea.

  1. As mentioned before, my BoB is really too heavy for someone my size (5'9", 180lbs - pack is ~70lbs when fully loaded), but one thing I'll keep is the ammo. It's not much, but I have 80 rds of 9mm and 400 rds of .22 cal. It's Federal bulk HP, but I'm thinking of getting some subsonic which would make less noise. My 'retreat' (parents 100 acre farm in Nebraska) is where my brothers and I keep most ammo - if TSHTF tomorrow, we'll be ammo rich. For me the route there is so long and there are so many different ways to go, it's not practical to cache along the way. But we will cache ammo and other items in a few location around the farm.

  2. Suburban, understood.I wouldn't dump ammo either.I haven't tested the subsonic lr's yet.But I did try the cb shorts out of my long barreled Springfield, with the bolt locked (cool feature)the sound of the little slug hitting pop can at 30 feet was way louder than muzzle blast. It was very quiet.Your case explains why everyone must put some thought in their own plans.I will not be going more that 100 miles in any direction,a couple of strategically placed caches my be good for me.Good luck Bro.

  3. Check these out : http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=6964&dir=668|827

They work really well for $15.00 each . I believe 3%4FREEDOM mentioned these and some others of the same type before so, I took his advice and bought up a bunch of these.

The work VERY well for storing ammo and other items that need to stay dry .

  4. Okay, just watched the video. I would have scuffed up the ends of the PVC pipe and end pieces with sandpaper first. And might use silicone grease on the threads of the screw in cap. Anything I put in there would be in a gallon zip-lock bag or dry bag of some sort. Also, 'cache' is pronounced like the word 'cash' - silent 'e', blame the French.

  5. Hey Fellas, sorry for the slow response my computer was down for several days, but back in action. Thanks Reg will check it out.

Suburban, Yeah I would use primer first.Considering this is equipment your life may depend on,a couple more bucks for primer would be money well spent.

Reg,I miss my Buddy.Besides being a good guy,he was a hell of a smart dude.I still use a lot of his info all the time.
